A nonprofit hasn’t enrolled with Goodstack, what happens to my donation?
Only organizations with verified nonprofit status are eligible to receive donations through Goodstack so you can donate with confidence, even if the organization hasn’t yet completed their enrollment.
When a nonprofit claims their organization on the Causes Portal, a nonprofit platform powered by Goodstack, they're able to update the branding of their profile based on how they want to appear to potential donors (e.g., a mission statement).
Specific to our donation payment process, this is where they also securely provide their organization's bank details to allow for quick and efficient bank transfers.
If a nonprofit hasn’t claimed their organization or provided their organization's bank details, we’ll attempt to deliver the donation via an alternative payment method, such as check or card. In the meantime, all donations made to the nonprofit will remain safely with the nonprofit as pending.
